Targeting an October planting time. Board approval will be needed on final design and will also seek “buy-in” from surrounding homes. Estimated cost is about $10,000.00. City Mowmentum program will reimburse LPENA up to 50% of approved costs. Brief history on the project from inception to current status.
Waterford Circle: Ann Allen, who works in Landscaping at SMU, coordinated with Aren to provide some recommendations on re-landscaping the circle. Her recommendations are to keep the Crepe Myrtle and ground cover, then remove all other plants, then plant 3 large shade trees. Aren suggested to meet again at the circle with Nancy Daniels and Ann Allen to put a plan together.
Overview on Video Surveillance project by Will White – Gave overview of project and current status.
Crime Prevention overview – Discussion on VIP program and ways to get community involvement. Suggested a dedicated neighborhood security flyer to distribute with next newsletter. Print out VIP Program sign up forms from website and distribute at Block Party.
Mark Hoesterey – Member of White Rock Lake Task Force and Conservancy. They have a $65 million dollar budget shortfall for projects at the lake stemming from the Spillway damage. Goals are to improve the safety of the lake and to continue with the master improvement plans. Spillway repair has drained most of the budget, they are looking for ways for additional funds to continue smaller projects. They have recently raised $50,000.00 for projects but still need more. Mark will keep us posted on project.
